Semi-Silica Brick Details
Semi-silica brick refers to an aluminum-silicon refractory product with a SiO2 content of greater than 65% and an Al2O3 content of 15% to 30%. They generally use clay containing quartz impurities or native kaolin, refractory clay or tailings and pyrophyllite obtained from kaolin mineral processing as raw materials. Pyrophyllite is often used in countries around the world to make semi-silica bricks.
The refractory degree of semi-silica brick is about SK27 (~1610°C), and it is the most general refractory material in terms of composition. Its characteristics include low price, small volume change at high temperatures, and good resistance to rapid cooling and heating. In the past, semi-silica bricks were used in gas generators and coke ovens where furnaces expand and contract due to repeated heating and cooling.
1. Cost-Effective:Semi-silica bricks are generally more cost-effective compared to high-alumina or silica bricks, making them a preferred choice in certain applications where cost is a significant factor.
2.Thermal Shock Resistance:Semi-silica bricks exhibit moderate resistance to thermal shock, allowing them to withstand rapid temperature changes to a certain extent.
3.Versatility:They can be used in a variety of industrial settings, such as furnaces, kilns, and other high-temperature environments.

Semi-silica bricks are widely used in coke ovens, acidified iron furnaces, metallurgical furnace flues, ladle linings, flowing steel bricks and hot metal tanks, etc.
It is mainly used as a refractory layer for ladle linings and pouring steel systems. In addition, it can also be used in hot furnace tops, regenerator checker bricks, iron furnace linings, various kiln bottoms and flues, etc.

The Al2O3 content of anchor bricks is above 55%, and some users require that the alumina content reach 75%, and the load softening temperature of 75% bricks reaches 1550C. However, in actual use, anchor bricks with high aluminum content cannot be enough. The key is Flexibility is the most important t...
